Making it online

Hello, dear reader!

I started my YouTube channel recently just to get my thoughts together and get ready for IELTS. But then I found it very satisfying to share my thoughts and get feedback from people interested in the same things as me. I shared my essays on my Instagram, but it was way too complicated to edit or read, as photos aren’t dedicated to sharing long texts. Additionally, I realized that I need to write more, and also in order to feel responsible and write better, I need to share my thoughts online.

So, after a while and one failed IELTS exam (to be precise I got lower marks in the Writing section) I decided to create a blog, an online notebook, where I put everything related not only to IELTS but generally my ideas in an organized way. Categories, tags, and all the rest opportunities given by an online platform are the best options for a person to strengthen his writing level and get more literate.

English is not my native language. I started acquiring it seriously at the age of 28. Before that date periodically I tried to learn it, failed, then tried again, and the cycle repeated. But, then I decided to get some kind of certificate, to have proof of my level. However, my English was terrible (even worse than now!) so before thinking about IELTS I had to apply for a General English course.

I got lucky, and my mentor was a true professional, who taught me everything in the right way, showing that English might be learned in an attractive and fun way. Thanks to my teacher, I was confident enough to visit conversation clubs hosted by her and other courses in Baku. And after 8 months, I decided that I was ready to start my preparations for IELTS.

It took me approximately six months to feel ready for IELTS. So, in 2018 I finally got my certificate. My results were good for a person who prepared by himself, but I was frustrated, as I expected to get higher results. I lost my interest in English and even stopped speaking it for a while. Of course, I used it from time to time but only recently in 2023, I decided to take my chances in IELTS once again. I got 6.5 in the Writing section again and again. What was wrong? I even attended an IELTS course but still couldn’t get the desired result. And I think my main problem is that I never wrote extensively in English. I write in English so rarely that sometimes I doubt about spelling of basic words! Thus, it shouldn’t be surprising for me to get lower scores in writing.

And here, I am going to pursue the main goal: write more in English. It doesn’t mean that everything I write here are meaningless or just to make myself ready for IELTS. I needed a place of mine on the vast ocean of the Internet where I can speak about things I find interesting and appealing.
