Getting along with IELTS essays

words

I have failed my Writing exam in IELTS two times straight. Yes, that’s a lot. And discouraging at the same time. So, I have been looking for a mentor all this time since I got my results in January. What should I do? I just can’t overstep this obstacle, it is like a great wall of my disability to gather myself and just do it. Maybe I should just concentrate again, put everything I have at this particular moment in my life, and try again. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. If I have the same result again, and again, it basically means that there is nothing to put on the table aside I’ve already had done. I have to learn more, absorb more advanced words and collocations, and use grammar and spelling properly. I have to evolve.

Admitting this is the first step in restoring myself from the ashes of failure and starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am just not good enough in Writing, that’s why my score is low. So, literally, all I need is more practice. As I told in my previous posts, I don’t write much in my daily life in English. Or to be one hundred percent honest, I DO NOT WRITE AT ALL in English. And why even do I anticipate something outstanding from my results? I read, listen, and speak using English every day, consequently, my scores in these parts are all higher than 7. In Listening I even got 8.5! What does it mean? Well, it is obviously showing me that what I use daily I mastered, and what don’t do well, those skills are weak.

And I decided to use the brainstorming method or to be clear I am going to use online resources such as courses from Udemy or YouTube, and simultaneously I am going to push beyond the scope of ordinary people. I have a little project, using which I am going to prove that everything is connected to the amount of time spent involved in the chosen activity. Following its postulates, I read and write every day. A lot! And I feel that my skills getting sharper and my understanding of the language is deepening. Obviously, I prefer high-quality materials related to science, technology, the environment, and all other topics common in IELTS. The trick is not only to read, but to use those phrases and try to incorporate them into my writing. To not overwhelm me, I do it on a moderate level, spending 20 minutes on reading and 30 minutes on writing, thus all this feels like something entertaining and fresh. Also, when I make notes about my progress, it helps to maintain the same level of dedication and diligence. It always feels pleasant to see those ticks showing your advancement.

I am going to keep you posted regarding my new project. The results are about to show up, as I have a lot of experience learning new techniques and also my level in English is not that bad. So, have a great day, and see you!
